TUESDAY TIPS | Displaying your Photos

March 13, 2012

Hi friends! I had someone request me do a post on how I display photographs throughout our home. So this morning – I picked up my camera and walked around the house to capture a few of my favorites. I’ll start with my office…

This is probably one of my most favorite + creative ways I’ve used to display our family photography session by the lovely Katelyn James Photography. With the help of my friend Amy Showalter of Amelia Bedelia Designs, I took 2 old desk drawers, put new decorative knobs for hanging the matted photos, and hung them with ribbon.
I love how fun + different they are!
Turning to the other side of my office, the photo on the left – I repainted my grandma’s old shelf, adding my inicials + one of my favorite photos from our shoot with Katelyn James this past August. I really love this style canvas (the sides are exposed canvas for more of a vintage feel) The photo on the right – I displayed 3 of my favorite images taken by mself, beautifully framed by my new line of Organic Bloom Frames. For all my clients – don’t forget to ask about these at your next session! They come in all shapes + sizes!

I took this yellow rose bush photo as a gift to my brother and soon to be sister-in-law. They got engaged this past May and are getting married in April! I had these made into notecards for them by the talented Ashlee Proffitt Design. I liked it so much I thought I should hang a photo in my office!
Moving upstairs! (My office is in the basement) – we have a huge collage of frames + photos in our stairwell. I love being surrounded by each stage and milestone in our lives. There isn’t a time I walk up or downstairs without
noticing a new photo or remembering that special memory. I love it.
I LOVE canvas’. They add texture, fun + a pop of character to any space. If I could, I would have
them all over my house. But unfortunately they are pricy, so I’m taking it a few at a time :)
We have two above our TV from our session with Katelyn James as well.
Moving to our bedroom, we have 1 canvas’ print hung above our bed (that I wish was bigger, one day I’ll get another bigger one or add 2 more to it!) from the wedding inspired part of our photoshoot with Katelyn James.
Another fun way to display images from a shoot is an accordion style folded book to either have closed, or display open (which is how we have it on our bookshelf) These were our engagement photos taken by Jason Michael Photography. One of my husband’s loves is riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle – so for our engagement shoot we rode our bike around downtown Harrisonburg + Jason captured us riding together!

To me, being surrounded by photographs is extremely important. Displaying them creatively has given them a whole new perspective. Today especially, I’m remind how every single day is a gift. Photos are a daily reminder how blessed I am by my family + friends.

Hopefully this gives you a little inspiration to be creative in displaying photos in a fun new way!

Happy Tuesday!
